Tobias Huskebakk

iOS developer and IT operations professional building focused digital products.

Built for everyday tracking

This iOS nutrition tracker is for people who want to understand what they eat without navigating a cluttered experience. I began developing the MVP in June 2026 and currently use the app for my own daily testing.

A faster workflow

Scan a barcode, enter the amount eaten, and you are done. Previously scanned products remain available, making repeat meals just as quick to log.

Available in the MVP

  • Barcode scanning with nutritional data from Open Food Facts
  • Custom products and corrections when product data is missing or inaccurate
  • Daily totals for calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat
  • Quick access to products you have previously scanned

Technical implementation

Built as a focused, local-first iOS app

I built the interface in SwiftUI, with on-device persistence for logged meals and a reusable local product database. The barcode scanner flow looks up nutrition data through Open Food Facts, then lets the user save products and log exact amounts in grams.

  • On-device persistence
  • Barcode scanner flow
  • Open Food Facts lookup
  • Saved local product database
  • Manual logging by grams
  • Daily calorie and macro totals
  • Local-first privacy model

Engineering from the foundation

The app requests only the product and log records needed for the current task, helping keep the interface responsive as saved data grows. Nutrition data currently remains on the user’s device. Private iCloud synchronization and deeper nutritional insights are possible future work, after the core logging experience is reliable.

About me

I build useful digital experiences—and keep improving them.

I’m Tobias, a software developer and IT operations professional from Norway. I build useful apps and websites with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and thoughtful design.

Background

I hold a Norwegian Certificate of Apprenticeship in IT Operations, awarded the highest possible assessment. During two years in a municipal IT environment, I coordinated incoming support requests, worked with hundreds of managed devices through Microsoft Intune, and installed and documented dozens of access points and network switches. I reduced support response times by over 50% by improving structure, documentation, and response flow.

How I work

I work well when a task has unclear structure and needs to be made reliable. One example was leading the teardown and rebuild of the wired network, Wi-Fi, and broadcasting setup in the building’s primary meeting room. The project required coordinating the full installation while restoring a reliable room for critical meetings.

What motivates me

I enjoy turning everyday frustrations into products people can genuinely use. Building my own tools gives me a practical way to question existing solutions, strengthen my technical skills, and learn through real implementation decisions.

Beyond development

I am currently studying Economics and Business Administration at BI Norwegian Business School in Trondheim, with expected completion in May 2029. Outside technology, I spend a lot of time on training and health.
